~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I saw a picture of my mother,
when she was young – just a teen.
My heart was stirred because in that photo,
I could see the inklings of a heart –
who would quiet my fears,
wipe away my tears,
offer me hope through the many years…
this was a picture that caused me to smile,
because in her image – I could see a light
that comes to those who know Him, the joy
of my life – this man who came to save us…
from the worst that comes in life –
from the shadows of doubt,
from the darkest clouds,
from the storms that shout,
from the worries and the proud,
from the self who is king,
until we glimpse the One who is everything,
the King of Kings… the light that breaths…
in that picture, looking back at me
I could see the hope, the faith, the love
that had been brought to my life – through her,
the woman who I knew as “Mama or Mother”
the woman who I knew as my best friend,
the woman whose love would teach my heart to see…
this Jesus who is love, this Jesus who is King
because without the Son of God…
there would be no reason for this season,
when Christmas is celebrated by those who believe….
this is the reason – the love conceived
by the hearts who know Him as Savior and King,
by this heart who can see Him in the eyes of a friend,
the woman who taught me to reach out in faith,
to listen to the One who came to earth to save,
to feel the assurance of a love that is stronger than we can know,
a love that was sent to us by the One who created us,
a love that means we can know – the King of grace,
the King of faith, the King of this world and the King of everything.
Because I know Him and yearn to show Him
that love this alive will forever survive,
inside this woman I call “Mother” and inside of me,
because we both agree… He is the love that we believe,
He is the answer to every need, the hope that freed,
the One who came to save and, oh yes, I BELIEVE!
