A Pegasus's Broken Wings

A poor Pegasus dreams
Of soaring freely in the sky
And to graze on the mountains
With her friends, she would fly.

She awakes with a stutter
Each and every day of her life
Hoping to soar free
As each dream becomes a lie.

She gallops through the meadow
As she tries to take flight
But she falls every time
Wings like a withered kite.

When duty comes and calls
Her friends soar off the cliff
The the poor Pegasus cries
For she shares no part of the myth.

Her hoof's thunder away
As she gallops with all her might
Her wings try one last time
Only to fall out of sight

Each day she weeps alone
As her friend leaps and sings
For poor Pegasus can never fly
With her withered, broken wings.

Well, I am not so sure that You are not Pegasus of the non broken type~for the wonderful writings of your precious words always seem to soar above and beyond many that I have 'ever' read upon this site! Perhaps you were refering to someone else dear gifted and beautiful Catherine!? For surely, I could 'never, see this as being yourself!:) And again, an amzingly picturesque and well written, flowing write....cont....

Very magical though it is sad. Many a reader can relate to this I am sure, as we have all suffered times that friends and life seem to pass us by. I love the imagery and the flow is perfect. Great writing. Smiles from Lolita

A very beautiful, touching poem that tells a story and carries a message. This is one of the pieces of writing I can relate to, my middle school experience was like this, watching my friends pass me by, lacking the ability to join them and be what i wanted to. Keep writing such beautiful pieces of work! -Skylar
