Poor, poor little Christmas tree, why would Charlie Brown pick thee,
From all the others evergreen, dried out and such a prickly pine,
He must have seen something special in you, that no one else could see,
A silent spark of holiday magic, hidden deeply within this tiny sapling!
Proudly Charlie took in his prize, to show his friends at school
But all they did was frown at him, and asking why, did you pick
This miserable thing, one even called him a block head!
So the boy left taking his found treasure with him, I’ll
Decorate you myself, and a bulb of red did he place upon
Its single fragile limb, and the weight of it alone made it
Sag, and droop, then Charlie Brown was heard to say
Out loud their right, I am a block head, as he walked away!
But his faithful friend heard him, none other than his pal
Snoopy, and felt sorry for this poor, poor little Christmas tree,
Behold all the others came next one by one, all those
Whom Charlie Brown called his friends, and finally
The Christmas spirit reached out to them!
In a circle of friendship each gathered heart and hand,
Singing in tandems choirs the praises of this wondrous
Seasons of miracles!
With hope and love all things are possible, as the children
Sang the tree was renewed, and this feeble example of alpine
Spruce turned into a tall stately Christmas tree!
Within the school auditorium later that night, the children
Staged the story of Bethlehem, and the birth of the king
Of kings!
Charlie Brown’s treasure took centers stage with it’s
Twinkling lights shining, and the decorations gleaming,
On its tip tops highest branch, an alumina star reflected
All the colors of the brightly lit tree, no more just a dried
Old reject from the village tree lot, but a sparkling
Masterpiece, renewed by the hope and love of children!
Afterwards the stage went silent, the tree was left alone
Once more, but Snoopy came and brought it back to his
Canine domicile and celebrated in grand holiday style!
All the children came for a final Christmas Eve Christmas
Carol, and even Woodstock joined in whistling to the
Tune, as Snoopy howled in a gentle beagle sounding,
As the tree branches rustled in the chilling December
Winds!
It’s a Peanuts Christmas after all hearts in hands
Gathering around, smiling and rejoicing in the miracles
Of this cherished season, God bless them all these
Our little children!
