A Patch of Moonlight

A Patch of Moonlight A patch of moonlight glimmers in pale shades of ivory Then drips from feathery pine boughs in soft revery; Nightingales fill solitude with pure symphonies Still serenity of blissful stars in nocturnal brillancy. 8-19-21

Ahh moonlight, it is one of my favorite things, truly, it's on my list of things I love. It's so soft and pretty. When you see it over a lake it looks like a melting path. When I lived in Vermont, there was a song you would hear every now and then called Moonlight In Vermont. Such a relaxing poem. I loved it.

Thank you so much Greg! When moonlight creates ivory patches on our lawn and the nightingale starts to call I am always carried away into a serene place! Somehow the moon and bird go together for me on a summer night. This poem will ultimately be part of a series of poems titled "A Patch Of..." It is the third in the series. So happy you enjoyed it! All the best.!

Thank you so much Anne-Lise! I could sit for hours gazing at the moon and stars. How blessed are you have such an amazing place of natural beauty for your walks. We have a levee around our city that borders a marine preserve. It has been my haven for walks. Have a wonderful weekend! Many hugs coming your way!

The nightingale's nocturne supplies a peaceful soundtrack to your pastoral painting, Sam. Pure poetic bliss. Love it!

I agree! It is a peaceful "soundtrack" after a busy day - one that we can nestle down into like a cozy quilt. Some nights I stand at the window just breathing in all of its exquisite beauty! Makes me happy to know you love this this poem! Sending you blessings of peaceful serenity dear friend!

Thank you so much Jan! I was looking at the moon the other night and thinking about the patches of soft light in the garden. We have also had nightingales. I love their midnight serenades. This is one of my favorite summer night sights and songs! hugs and a :D
