A Patch of Moonlight

A Patch of Moonlight A patch of moonlight glimmers in pale shades of ivory Then drips from feathery pine boughs in soft revery; Nightingales fill solitude with pure symphonies Still serenity of blissful stars in nocturnal brillancy. 8-19-21

Ahh moonlight, it is one of my favorite things, truly, it's on my list of things I love. It's so soft and pretty. When you see it over a lake it looks like a melting path. When I lived in Vermont, there was a song you would hear every now and then called Moonlight In Vermont. Such a relaxing poem. I loved it.

Thank you so much Greg! When moonlight creates ivory patches on our lawn and the nightingale starts to call I am always carried away into a serene place! Somehow the moon and bird go together for me on a summer night. This poem will ultimately be part of a series of poems titled "A Patch Of..." It is the third in the series. So happy you enjoyed it! Thank you so much Jan! I was looking at the moon the other night and thinking about the patches of soft light in the garden. We have also had nightingales. I love their midnight serenades. This is one of my favorite summer night sights and songs! hugs and a :D
