A Note To My Daughter

If I could lift you through the veil where wishes were promises kept and dreams the natural blush of reality were more than hopes If I could be assured that screaming at the heavens on bloodied knees would free you I'd surely be perpetually occupied gladly occupied If I could but no I should not carry you nor yell in your stead or decry those that block your way but you will see the pride on my path and there the strength to blaze your own

Yes, it must be hard, but parents can only offer guidance and allow children to forge their own paths. Still, she knows she can count on you, Craig, and that's important. Congratulations on your win in Mark's contest and have a Merry Christmas, Carolyn

Craig, congrats on your win on Mile 2 of my 2019 Poetry Marathon contest. As parents we begin willing to do anything and everything for our children, and then we realize at some point their need to `blaze their own' path. ~Mark

I need to come here more often to read your poetry, Craig. Oh, how this one captures the love and pride, the love and endearing connection you have to your daughter. If I could have written it from the mother's point of view, I couldn't have expressed it better. I so love this ...

You just unzipped the covers of my mind to the unprecedented worship of your adorable lines with a powerful choice of words that can't just be ignored. Showers of your wisdom is well palpated in this page and the only thing I can say is a big WELL DONE! Can't wait to have more of your mental command flowing through my reading mind.

Every father's prayer, Craig. We all wish only happiness for our children but we know the harshness of reality. I can imagine you sitting there with your chest stuck out, thinking of your daughter. I know mine is:)

we are the bow that guides the arrow, my friend, once the string releases they're on their own...truth is our children do bring such pride, it's hard work to raise a child, your poem is filled with wisdom...
