A Note To My Daughter
If I could lift you
through the veil
where wishes were
promises kept and
dreams the natural
blush of reality
were more than hopes
If I could be assured
that screaming at the heavens
on bloodied knees
would free you
I'd surely be
perpetually occupied
gladly occupied
If I could but no I
should not carry you nor
yell in your stead or
decry those that
block your way but
you will see the pride
on my path and there
the strength
to blaze your own
