A Night In the City
City nights, Star-less skies
Sprinkles wet, raindrop mist
brushes my arms, my face
tickling my toes with dew.
I hear the drops hit earth,
and, lo, I think of you.
Streetlight-brightened road
Mid-city, train horn.
A dog barks now, then.
Light pitter-patter
of the small shower.
Sky of strange hue:
purplish-blue.
Leaves burdened down,
trees dripping drops.
Porch-light here,
Streetlight there.
Rain descending.
Car drives
slowly.
POW!
