A New World

I dream to see the day
when I could look out my window
to watch a new world emerging.

                     II
I dream to see a streak of light
descending from the clouds
to herald the birth of a morning.

                    ***
There’s only one road to peace
and it begins right inside of you and me;
it’s never too late and hey, let’s not wait,
it’s our destiny, it’s our fate.

                     III
I dream to see the day
when you and I could be as one
and every man is everyone’s neighbor.

                     IV
I dream to see a white dove winging
towards the blue wide skies
when the guns of doom will pound no more.

Denis Joe January 1, 2009 at 5:37 AM This is a lovely poem just to look at. The manner of the layout is excellent and works the narrative well. I find myself drawn towards optimism and that is, perhaps, what draw me to this. The feeling of the ambiguous 'dream' seems to me to be a want and a possibility rather than a wish. The language is very simplistic but it is that which provides the strength, particularly in III.
