A New World

I dream to see the day
when I could look out my window
to watch a new world emerging.

                     II
I dream to see a streak of light
descending from the clouds
to herald the birth of a morning.

                    ***
There’s only one road to peace
and it begins right inside of you and me;
it’s never too late and hey, let’s not wait,
it’s our destiny, it’s our fate.

                     III
I dream to see the day
when you and I could be as one
and every man is everyone’s neighbor.

                     IV
I dream to see a white dove winging
towards the blue wide skies
when the guns of doom will pound no more.

                     ***

Dear Fred, Beautiful work all your poetry. This one I like best. By age 26, war had caused me to know how it felt to take human life, save human life, and fail trying to save human life. Your poem voices my dream superbly. God Bless - James B. Rudd

This is a lovely poem just to look at. The manner of the layout is excellent and works the narrative well. I find myself drawn towards optimism and that is, perhaps, what draw me to this. The feeling of the ambiguous 'dream' seems to me to be a want and a possibility rather than a wish. The language is very simplistic but it is that which provides the strength, particularly in III.
