A New Path
A young man,
takes a new path,
to please the one he loves.
But once his footfalls feel the unknown surface,
he can't help but wonder,
Can I really handle this?
Will I slip and fall?
He doesn't want to disappoint her after all.
He shouldn't have any doubts,
since their love is new and strong,
untested by time, and the life challenges sure to come.
When he should really be concerned,
is when the little one is grown and gone.
Can he then renew and sustain the love that seemed so natural, and easy, in the beginning?
Now needing work and patience to endure.
