A New Love's Dance
Fate put us together
among the weather delayed travel.
The morning after a long night's labor,
lodging at a friend's home.
Two friends secretly longing one for another,
lying awake in a too small bed,
your body so close to mine,
I feel your heat.
We both toss and turn, unable to sleep.
I feel like a teen on a first date,
unable to find the words to match my emotions.
Finally, one giant leap I do take,
and tell you what is in my heart,
the largest I have accomplished.
I am timid and scared,
not sure how you feel.
I lay it all out for you to see,
my tender heart exposed.
In your arms,
I find solace.
