A New Life

A NEW LIFE

Like a baby exploring his world,
Like a flower springing out of the ground,
I now have a new life in Jesus
Since His love and salvation I’ve found.
I feel like a man who has traveled
From a land far across the sea
As he sails into New York’s fair harbor,
Sees the Statue of Liberty.
It’s a new life I’ve found in my Savior,
It’s a new life abundant and free.
It’s a new life of blessing and pleasure,
A new life for one such as me.

Like a man who’s received prison’s pardon,
Like a player who’s won the top prize,
Like a blind man who’s seeing the sunset
Through the healing he’s had on his eyes,
I am seeing a freedom abundant,
One that’s better than I’ve ever known,
And it’s great just to hear from my Father
His kind words as He welcomes me home.

When I think of my life that I wasted
In the sins that I thought were such fun,
When I think of the pride that I flaunted
When I heard I was lost and undone,
I am glad that the Savior was patient
Till I saw what I was in His sight
And I came from the darkness and sorrow
To His love shining wondrous and bright.
