I will turn back the pages of my life- I was nine years old, sad, and lonely had been living with grannie and grandpa on their farm and I liked it there But, mom told dad to buy a new house on a quiet safe street she said we had lost my sister to a traffic accident a few years ago and were still healing And he did and it was beautiful I fell in love in a moment it was old and elegant and perfect my eyes sparkled with joy My room was at the top of a grand staircase it overlooked a lovely garden there was plenty of room for my books dolls and teddies and had a large front porch The street was lined with ancient trees the neighbourhood quiet and peaceful a park at the end of the street beckoned me it was lush and green and I wanted to go there There was a pond with drifting ducks and swans it was like my dreams had been answered and my little girl heart skipped a beat the wound in my heart was going to heal

This is so touching and beautiful, very descriptive too. Im so sorry you had to experience grief at such a young age, that would have been so painful and hard. And your parents seem so loving and provided the best they can for you. Sounds like a lovely and comfortably home and i love the ending with the swan story imagery! So good! So deep! And i see hope and faith despite all. Sending you light today and always

Dear Constance, this is such a poignant write and expressed so well with your reminiscence of past, painful days. I cannot imagine the grief, loss, you have had to endure throughout your lifetime but I admire your strength and the comfort it brings with your wonderful, haunting poetry. Since joining this amazing site, you were one of the most talented poets that stood out for me and I decided there and then, that I wanted to strive to improve my own work. Such is your outstanding, poetry.

I would imagine that this house and its surroundings that you describe so poetically well was a haven for you. A sanctuary and something comforting in such a young girls life. The last two lines, in particular, are very poignant. Beautifully written as always dear Constance. Hugs and blessings to you xx
