A New Day

The house is quiet now,
and I am all alone. Tired.
the dead are buried in their tombs of slumber
six feet under.
the babies are born into crowded hospital rooms,
with smiling faces all around dressed all in white.
the new bottle of wine is opened,
the new cigarette lit with a new match.
the house is cleaned,
and she is with a new man
not remembering who made her smile last.
All though it is a new day for me,
I still think of old memories
that make me sigh,
and make me cry,
and laugh
and smile only for a moment
then the moment is gone;
And I sit all day
writing new poems
for all of you to enjoy and look at yourself
in a brand new way.
