A New Day

I love the early morning dawn
It beckons me from my lair
Mocking birds greeting songs
The freshness that lingers there
Gulls in a cloudless sky above
Seek their mates across the bay
Sounds of mourning turtle doves
Praying hymns of peace that day
Sunlight ends the dark of night
Then another day is born anew
Another time this morning’s sight
Will invite me there tomorrow too
