A Name in the Dark

i speak the words and they take root twisting deep into your veins a shadow that breathes it grows it thrives it does not fade beneath your skin where whispers turn to thorns the curse settles a fever that will not break each breath you take draws it closer, unseen and in the silence it watches it waits it waits for you to slip to stumble to break the hush for when you cry out you will call its name but the name is not a word not a sound it is a dark thing a feeling a shadow and when you speak it it will have you the curse is not of flesh or bone but a breath in the dark a mark upon your soul and it will follow even beyond the grave
