A Musical Narcotic

I rush to the dance floor
The first chords of “Night Fever” command it
The crowd clamors for more
Their sighs of approval demand it

The room is bedazzled, hypnotic
The pulse sets the rhythm, heart beat, dance feet
I smolder in musical narcotic
Focused in song, inside myself, complete

Alas, the beat subsides in sudden pause
     As I’ve reached my destination
Radio off, rewinding what was
     A temporary reclamation

Ah, Mike, this brought back so many memories. I remember being on a dance floor so crowded could hardly move to Dancing Queen, I Will Survive, and so many other!~
