A Mother's Day Poem

                                    To my Aunt Betty
                                  A Repost From 2022

                              You loved me and accepted
                                    me, for who I am
                                  Loving unconditional
                                  I was your little lamb
                               And Auntie, though your
                                    womb was closed
                                No baby born as you'd
                                      once supposed
                               With the baby boomers
                                           boom
                                    No baby in your
                                      nursery room
                                     Yet truest love,
                                     my Aunt to me
                                    The sweetest gift
                                      would ever be
                                  Your gift of love for
                                      each you knew
                                         Oh Auntie,
                                         your love
                                        was so true
                                      Though you're
                                 lifted from this sphere
                                        May angels
                                         bout' you
                                    Close and near
                             Whisper in your precious ear
                               BJ adores you Auntie dear
                                A whispered "Thank you!"
                                       From this heart
                              Undying love cannot depart
                                   May these words lift
                                           up to say
                                          Aunt Betty;
                                    Happy Mother's Day

                                                <3

That’s a lovely tribute to your aunt on Mother’s Day BJ, I also was unfortunately childless but gave lots of love to my nieces and nephews as your aunt did for you. It’s nice that your daughter Amanda has joined PoetrySoup… Belle

I'm really happy to read this post from you, BJ. I had such a loving aunt that I thought of as my second mother. A loving heart need not have the name of 'mother' to love us as if she were.

Your Aunt must have loved you dearly. As close as a mom and daughter relationship could be under the circumstances. Another great heartfelt read.

Yes Anon, she never left one iota of doubt in my entire life, she was such a wonderful and beloved aunt, she brought me such joy. Yes, I felt very much that she was my Other Mother, except for all sweetness, no doubts, all love. She had no children so she didn't become as exausted I suppose as my own mother had become by the time I made it into her life, caring for six kids which included my beloved and precious cousin Johnny at the time. My mom was probably worn out, my aunt was filled with love, longing, and didn't have the responsibilities of actually feeding and caring for us all nonstop. She was an angel on earth.

Yes, my aunt was the soul nourishing loving, accepting angel in my life as I grew up. She was my godmother and my aunt, and her love carried me through my life. She didn't have children, so she loved her nieces and nephews with a great and wonderful love. I feel so blessed to be her namesake. I am a mom, I have eight children :) One of my daughters just commented below, and blessed my heart so much! I am having a very blessed Mother's Day, feeling very loved :) Are you a mama? If so, Happy Mother's Day to you as well! <3
