A Morning Cup of Joe

The Morning Cup of Joe

By Elton Camp

It was a cool day when Bob went to his patio
For his coffee, it was the place he liked to go
So on the table his cup he very carefully set
And he went back inside, some cream to get

But instead, Bob got to talking on the telephone
And it was for over an hour that he was gone
When he returned to the patio to enjoy his brew
That it would probably be cold Bob well knew

But he really needed his daily shot of caffeine
And worse things than cold coffee he had seen
But as he brought the cup up toward his lip,
From his fingers Bob suddenly let it slip

When he had gazed into his coffee so black,
He saw a pair of eyes that were looking back
His visitor went away with an indignant hop
Leaving his coffee outside it made Bob stop

Thanks for reading and going to the trouble to comment. I've been gone most of the day and so haven't written much. Elton
