A Moonlit Night
It was a brisk and clear moonlit night
The moon was out, full and shining bright
Raptor sounds echoed of shrills and shrieks
As the river danced with tiny white peaks
Barren Trees glistened with frosty limbs
Nighttime sounds sing soothing hymns
Nocturnal creatures now actively awake
Busy searching for food scraps to take
A deer appears along the riverbank to drink
Cautiously touching the water not to sink
An owl swoops down with expanded wings
and hoots and coos as his hunting begins
Feasting river rats quickly scurry to hide
As the owl continues to swoop and glide
A fish catch in his talons as he flies to his nest
A feast for his family before he can rest
