A Moment's Notice

I've waited a lifetime
For this moment
I've wanted, needed,
Tasted it.
Prayed for it even;
So hard you can hear it -
The beating of my heart

It means everything

I've shed tears
gone cold before they reached the floor
I've let images of it envelop me,
the smells, the sounds, the tastes;
the feeling
flow right through me

And now we're here
with tears turned to ice.
The smell, the sound, the taste;
the feelings
simply wash over me

And now, Everything means nothing.
