A Moment
I thought I’d been given
something of value
a nugget of truth
that I’d been enlightened
had a moment
had the scales
torn from my eyes
the fog
driven from my thoughts
I felt lighter
my step less weary
my heart freer
the world less daunting
not as troubling
but
it was a lie
a con
a ruse
and so
I laughed
loud and long and deep
had I cried
I would never
have stopped.
