A Modest Dwelling
A modest dwelling tucked in the woods
Stones throw to the general store
Conveniently close to gas and goods
Yet a peaceful, secluded core
A winding drive, shaded by pines
A bumpy, lumpy welcome home
Not the rich man’s paradise
But a jewel to call one’s own
Plenty of acres, to be explored
Piece of earth for my children to grow
Land to run free, trees for forts
The greatest gift, God, bestowed
The memories of my greatest days
Each chapter of our book
All Played out, on this Georgia clay
On my hammock, I lay, and look
