A Misty Day
The air is thick and misty.
The fog hovers over the backyard,
fighting to linger as the sun rises and starts burning it off.
The squirrels are quiet.
The birds are silent.
Even the prowling cats have decided to sleep in,
waiting for the mist to clear.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a day struggle to begin.
The cobwebs are strewn across the deck, waiting for its daily destruction.
The lizards and rain frogs are still asleep.
A day like today should have been on the weekend
so I could close the blinds and snuggle back into bed.
Unfortunately, it’s the middle of the week and my daily work is calling.
Oh well, time to rise and shine and make the best of it.
Duty calls and I must answer.
