A Missed Opportunity

A mistake
     and tragedy
lost love
         lost forever
a few words
and he turned away
            hurt-
he left in the night
  to where unknown
I searched
       and searched   
                  searched
to say sorry
           I love you
   I want you . . .
               but
'till this day
              he is gone
I threw away
     what could have been
               and that is
a tragedy
