A Mid-Summer's Dance
It was sadly thought and quickly spoken
Too short to matter - too long to ignore
How could he say that his heart was broken
His world was torn until it had no core
How could he say that his life was over
She must have known that she was all to him
He had never been known as a rover
Never had he thought her love was a whim
Yet there she was in a mid-summer's dance
With a fool not worthy of her soft lips
Gently she flirted with an upward glance
The music kept time with her swaying hips
Yet he might save it - her love just the same
Tomorrow he'd tell her, he'd tell her his name!
