A Memory

I am but another memory,
Prone to fade away,
For what on this earth is immortal?

Rocks wither into dust,
Seas shrink to nothingness,
Love for what was wisps off;
Not a scar to show.

Born and told to be great,
I am not.
Petty is it to think one will leave his footsteps in the sand,
Without the tide to wash it away.

So I ask you now,
Don't waste time on me,
For I will indeed parish as all life does.

Never worth more than a brief walk on the beach,
A slight tremor in your heart,
Known to inevitably fade into the distance,
I vanish.

While it's true nothing last forever. One should never dismiss her self so casually. For while our footsteps might fade away. The impact they make on the future can be quite great.
