A Man's View of Love

“A Man’s View of Love”
by: Eric L. Boddie

Why does the blame always fall on me

Is me being the worst the only way that it can be

For your mere enjoyment, I give every bit of myself

You’re more than my woman, you’re my greatest wealth

And I only ask for your understanding for the days that it rains

But, over the simplest things, you have to nag and complain

Then there are those days when I can do nothing right

Because before I walk through the door, you have already started the fight

I have never cheated on you, and I pray I never will

But sometimes girl, you make me want to get ill

And if I do cheat, it will be my fault, and if you cheat, it is still mine

Because the blame falls on me each and every time

And God forbid that I be late because I’ll never hear the end

I don’t even try to fight because I know I can’t win

I just have to take it and take it and take it and take it

My only hope to calm you down is to try to get you naked

That is my power, my only advantage over you

Because no one has ever brought you pleasure the way that I do

Don’t I lick you and don’t I stick you just the way that you like it

And your g-spot, with every stroke, don’t I strike it

I give you your greatest pleasure, and you cause me my greatest stress

Because you think I want other girls, but I understand that I have the best

And I’ll jeopardize that for nothing because I need you to mother my every child

Because the most beautiful thing God ever created was, simply, your smile

Not how it looks on your face, but how it reflects the beauty in your soul

Which is why I love you baby and with you is the only way I will grow old

I love this excellent piece, Eric - this is telling it like it is! Many women appreciate this kind of deep committed love, passion, and devotion from their man! But unfortunately, so many are too insecure to realize that when they don't have enough trust in their man, become overly possessive, and jealous, they may spoil a good thing and drive a good man away! In every successful relationship, there has to be a great level of mutual trust or else it will certainly fail. Great write! Pandita

You are absolutely right, Eric - with God in the middle, true love can weather any tempest and will endure. I love this poem!

I love the reality of this poem , some women all they need is more praise and re-assurance ..Insecurity gone means trust regained...Im glad you can still see her beauty behind her little flaws.. Love it,

thank you Charmaine....the only way to truly Love is to accept....you have to accept a person for who he/she claims to be....at least that's how I feel.....and this is a real old poem of mine....the reality of it is long over with....lol

I like your view, Eric, maybe you should hand a copy of this poem to every man, who has no clue. LOL, don't be late, never will you hear the end of it. I have a relationship, where I trust my man, we don't live together anymore. He's on tour and I decided to move on forward. We keep things real, though. I know he thinks I'm the best, you get a bit naught here. This is a fun to read poem, I am smiling... Always ~LINDA

the truth will set you free, but as you should know, most women don't really want the truth....it sounds good when they say it, but the track records are all the 'evidence' I need to know better....lol
