A Man of Thirteen

...a self-portrait

I made thirteen and then I froze
although I'm fifty-five,
my inner child is still right here
it's stuck inside alive,
surviving, there may still be time
to cultivate the brat,
to show him just the hell who's boss
and pin him to the mat!

This is a bit tricky, to me, the reader has to figure out what exactly you are referring to as "the brat" being you ...or your image of yourself? I made thirteen then I froze implies to me you have 13 children? OR...you tried painting thirteen self portraits and for humor you show the reader your tough thoughts and real feelings about self discipline and self preservation. Hmmm...this one is a thinking one...many different ways to play it...I like it! Great brain!~ 13 going on 55 wanting more :)
