A Man I'Ll Never Know
A man I'll never know

You are a man I'll never know
Tied up in my very existence
All I know is what others share
All I see is photographs from the past
I look at you, frozen in time
No emotions are experienced
How can I love you, my blood?
A stranger that looks a bit like me?
I look in the mirror
And I am like no one else
I look into my soul
And my differences are marked
I wonder what we could've had?
I wonder what our life could've been?
I wonder what our family would've felt
If we had ever had a chance to meet?
I love the idea of you
I love what you could mean
But we do not have a relationship
For we never met in reality
Even your death was hidden from me
We passed each other by like strangers
Maybe we could meet again
One day when I'm in Heaven
You are a man I'll never know
Important to me being here
But that's all you'll ever be
As much as I could wish it differently
I am grateful that you existed
But still saddened by our story
Maybe in another life
We'll get to know each other more
We can't change our past
We can't plan a future
But I know that God has a plan
That is beyond our lifetime and knowing
