A Lovely Little Daydream

A little daydream, like a butterfly into my absent mind came fluttering, in pink and blue pastel. Then to and fro, it flitted as its wings began to grow. Above those rainbow wings, I was sitting as the giant butterfly went flitting through a field of buttercups. We flew then toward the sea which sparkled azure blue. The flying marvel tilted, dropping me into the crystal waters of the sea. My body changed upon my daydream’s whim, and I could breathe beneath the sea and swim. A mermaid I’d become with hair so long. I swam to shore and sang a siren’s song. Sun sank! My lovely daydream slipped away and left me on my beach towel where I lay. Jan. 20, 2017

This is lovely, Andrea, enjoyed it very much ... reminded me of my once-home in Frederiksted, St Croix (US Virgin Islands), and how I would go snorkeling or scuba every day after work, then late dinner to watch the sun set over the Caribbean ... a tough life, haha! Why did I come back? I have no good answer to that one ... I'm returning to someplace warm before I die, (possibly South Pacific - I must talk to Taai), that's for sure. Congrats on your win, my friend!

Strange places that daydreams take us with such useful superpowers! The last two lines were a great touch - ending where you started. Congratulations on your win Andrea! :-)

As it is not wise to think of grounds realties when someone is flying high at least till you are on the wings and the whole sky is there to enjoy the flying. How wonderful it would be to sit on the rainbow wings- Great poem dear friend with 7++ and thank you for your kind visit my 4th July 2014 poem. Love and best wishes...Ravindra K Kapoor

Great write dear friend. What a splendid beauty you have added in this sweet lovely write. I agree that your presumptions are not totally wrong and it may prove to be a false dream only. But, in my view there are ample chances that the end would be quite different than falling and lying on the beach in bare towel. Think of that also dear friend while one is flying so high in the sky on the wings of poetry. ...concluded in next..Ravindra K Kapoor

I think we would all like to fly away on a butterfly and live happily ever after in the endless sea. I would prefer to be a Dolphin so I don't have to worry about the sharks ! Another great poem Andrea.

Nicely done Andrea. I remember when I was young and living in Fla. I would lie in the sand at the beach and dream the day away. Nice. God Bless, JB

Mine always left me in my school desk. This is lovely, lilting, dreamy until an Alice in Wonderland rude and abrupt ending! Most creative and delightful ... CayCay
