A love that speaks our tongue

A love that speaks our tongue By Michelle Morris 05/10/2024 I remember walking in the park I remember dancing under stars in the dark I remember when we had our first kiss I remember that you were the one I couldn't resist Sometimes in our lives We meet the one too young We don't get the deep significance Of a love that speaks our tongue Sometimes in our world The foundation shifts and changes We don't even comprehend that Our heart's freedom is in danger Entwined from the very start You held my gaze It wasn't just your beauty But the light in your face So much shared emotion With just one look We knew it was forever Written in Fate's Book To understand each other deeply Beyond the limitations of space and time I remember that cherished moment When you agreed to be mine But nothing lasts forever Even time has to die I just thought we'd have this lifetime To share our perfect rhymes Sometimes in our lives We meet the one too young We don't get the deep significance Of a love that speaks our tongue Sometimes in our world The foundation shifts and changes We don't even comprehend that Our heart's freedom is in danger I wish I never had to say That you were the one The one that got away Because we were young But when the truth is told The reality of it is We lost each other's hearts When we became jaded Listening to the haters The liars and the cheats We allowed our hearts to harden Forgetting our love was sweet And now that we're older We can look back with the bittersweet Realising it was never really over Just locked away true feelings Sometimes in our lives We meet the one too young We don't get the deep significance Of a love that speaks our tongue Sometimes in our world The foundation shifts and changes We don't even comprehend that Our heart's freedom is in danger Sometimes in our lives We meet the one too young We don't get the deep significance Of a love that speaks our tongue Sometimes in our world The foundation shifts and changes We don't even comprehend that Our heart's freedom is in danger © Michelle Morris, 2024
