A Love Story

There was a young woman, a young mother, Who loved her daughter more than words can say, As she fell ill and weary, God gently called her home and she answered. And her daughter did not understand, And her mother said to her, “I will hold you in my hands from heaven and love you every minute of every day for all the days of your life.” There was another woman, another mother, Who loved her daughter just the same, As she grew old and tired, God gently called her home and she heard. And her daughter could only ask why, And her mother said to her, “I will hold you in my hands from heaven and love you every minute of every day for all the days of your life.” There were two daughters, two cousins, Who loved each other very much, Who missed their mothers greatly and mourned their poignant loss. So they gave each other strength and found comfort making memories, They vowed to live their lives as sisters and held each other dear, “We will love each other every hour of every day for the rest of our lives.” Now the two women, the two mothers, Held each other close and rejoiced in the daughters they gave life to, And spoke silently to their children on earth. “Do not spend your lives grieving but live them happily and freely, For we hold you forever in our hearts and love you for all eternity, As we wait patiently in heaven for you to return safely home to us.”
