A Love Poem
The old saying, “my heart skips a beat”
Held no meaning until now
I'm living proof it happens every day
When I get a message, KERPOW!
Heart starts pumping a mile a minute
Can't focus to press the right key
Eventually I'm able to find it though
And her loving words I see
Head starts spinning, fingers tremble
Reading the first loving line
Just as I imagined, her words excite me
Must respond to her love in kind
So I type, retype, and type again
I'm pretty damn happy with the end
But read it through a couple more times
More changes then I hit the 'send'
It's gone and I worry, did I use the right words
Does she understand what I'm saying
Then anxiously wait, it seems like forever
Till she returns the love I'm displaying
Starts all over, my heart skips a beat
Life had no meaning till now
I'm living proof, it happens every day
Never been so happily endowed!
