A Love Lost

Infants we are at first, then adults we do become, Betwixt the two the one called perception will label us smart or dumb, She will grace our minds with her children we know as choices, We feel their influence in action, and more so in our voices. Level is the playing field thanks to the sister called conscious thought, Even empowered by this ally I am now left with nought, The brother called will who fuelled me now mocks me as he departs, I stand helplessly, as they all lack more to impart. A reckless path I carved, it’s dangers have severed my core, Love bids her final farewell, this I cannot endure, As the heart ceases, the blood of despair now slows, The cells will cease their journey, but the emptiness always grows. - Michael-Shane Brown
