A Look In The Mirror
Short stubble streaked with gray
A scarred face and eyes that know
It’s a decade short of the crisis
But forty is already in tow.
And still the mirror gives nothing back,
but fogged glass, only my breath -
a cloud dissolving, like my life before,
a gasp, years it cannot hold.
