A Look Back

It’s been three years since I began this journey towards more rounded man; a number cruncher by my trade, but something new I’d try my hand. I thought I might a poet be when someone softly said to me, your hidden talents you should share for all the outside world to see. And so with quill in hand did start, and from within, my thoughts impart upon the parchment with my pen, its oozing ink spilled from my heart. I wrote of nature, life, and love, emotions deep and thoughts thereof; celestial bodies over head, the sun, the moon, the stars above; the changing seasons to be sure, and passing time we all endure; the death of friends who’ve left this life; and poems that seemed a bit obscure. And so it’s been for three years time I’ve wooed you with these simple rhymes in hopes you might enjoy my thoughts, but seems my words are past their prime. Now waning views my dreams betray, but doesn’t matter anyway who reads my weathered words because my heart has nothing left to say. August 20, 2020

Thank you for such kind words, Emilia, I sometimes get frustrated when no one reads my poems; I wrote this in a moment of frustration. John

Great way to end the poem, John! Get us all thinking that you may want to call all of this to a halt after three years... Ha, ha! Can't fool me! Looking forward to your next brilliant sonnet! ~ Pacemaker Associates

Stop thinking that way! New ideas come a Poet's way! Like you, I was stirred here, too. And fortunate to poetry ensue. Panagiota xxx

There will be none of that John Gondolf. As long as your heart beats it has lots of things to say. Listen to it and write!

It "doesn’t matter anyway who reads my weathered words, because my heart has nothing left to say" This makes me sad. My heart just dropped. Looking back in this way, will leave you feeling empty. When you look back, notice how much you have grown, as a poet. Continue to reach for the stars. That's where you and your words belong. Hugs, Brandy

Oh, John! Surely this sentiment is only very temporary. Terrific Congratulations on being a fluent writer and friend to folk here. This poem shows another firm example of your smooth brilliance.

Hey John, since lockdown many on here seem to be suffering with their muses going missing, lack of traffic on the site and few comments - but hang on in there and keep on spilling the ink:-) HUGS JAN XX

No way John, your words are certainly not past their prime and I'm sure many would agree with me. We all hit dry spells but that's par for the course, and I'm sure there is lots more in your heart. Hope alls well. Tom
