A Little Lad and His Big Dog

A little lad and his big dog; as big as the dog he thought he was. That big dog made sure he did. With that big dog by his side, he was the toughest kid. Every kid for miles around feared that boy and his dog, and a big dog was he! Without that big dog by his side, a little boy is all he would be. At school that big dog makes sure the little boy gets his breakfast first. If anyone tries to make a fuss, the big dog bites holes in your shirt. On the way home, if we don't walk with the little boy and act like he's our friend, that big dog barks and barks...so we just pretend. Someday when that little boy don't have a big dog anymore....and nobody has to be his friend- Would that little boy wish for another big dog....or would he wish for a real friend?
