When I was a little girl I loved Christmas Day,
I loved the blinking lights on the houses;
the scented candles Mom would light,
our tree top angel . . .
the ornaments on our tall evergreen tree;
the holly, the garland, and the tinsel !
Our Christmas tree's always had a nice twinkle,
thinking back it was love that was the key;
waiting for Santa was painful,
it was such a long night . . .
we all came running downstairs with happy faces,
to check stockings and open gifts wrapped gay !
Grandpa would ask me did you hear the reindeer play,
and lovely were mistletoe embraces;
the church bells ringing- a delight,
we sang loud songs grateful . . . .
I would eat sweet candy canes sitting on Dad's knee,
and gran's sugar cookies with a sprinkle !
