A Little Boy Lost
I’m still that little boy only I’m hidden far away,
I still think about those days when I could come out and play.
When life had no worries or problems I must solve,
And the only thing of importance was to watch the world revolve.
But life has a way of taking things away,
And adding to our shoulders more and more each and every day.
Until that little boy is hidden deep inside,
As youth it evades us, so deeper he must hide.
Until we reach a certain age and it starts to turn around,
And then they call us senile, for the day this child is found.
Then they try to put us in a place they say will make us well,
But I can tell you this my friend it’s on the edge of Hell!
But I just smile and shake my head,
For I know they wish me dead.
For this is not my home, no family do I see,
For all I really want is for that little boy that’s locked away, someday to be free.
