A Little Boy Knowing Not God

Memories come back of growing up
learning fav hymns when at school
still there remember them still today
defining my beliefs now makes my rule

'There's a green hill' was my fav
such deep truths now looking back
bringing the gospel light so to shine
believing this would show nothing lack

'Jesus loves me' was truly profound
such simple words so simply understood
'let us with a gladsome mind' also love
brought joy and smiles made me feel good

But in all of this so called happiness
still didn't know God that was real
the old inside still had not changed
God's electing choice still to reveal

29 years in all it took to awake
this dead old heart made brand new
Jesus came into reside as my king
such merciful love so ever true
