A Lil' Nip
Son, don't stand there with that cold stare and judge me
When I twist the cap and pour a glass and tilt my head gently
Just know that I'm in search of a little relief and peace of mind
Unfortunately, this world is a place where peace is sometimes hard to find
No excuses! But life has a peculiar way of happening in all sorts of ways
It's going to test you, tempt you, beat you, and humble you all of your days
So bolster yourself by getting to know the most high
'Cause as you move along, you gon' see and feel some unpleasant things, I ain't gon' lie
But there are so many beautiful things too, like you
So always be authentic, treat people right and be true
I stayed away from the funny cigarettes, pills, powder, and needles
I'm not proud of my lil' nip and I pray to the most high you never do any of it as you take your turn at some of life's riddles
So, son, don't stare at me with disdain when you see me take a lil' nip.
Just know that I'll be back but for now, I'm taking a quick lil' trip
