A life almost undone

I woke too soon, a life almost undone
A sudden call came, before the light of day
But all are safe, the reaper had not won

Her life was spared, before the morning sun
She was okay, I heard her softly say
I woke too soon, to a life almost undone

No tragic end, no race was lost or run
Three lives affected, dark clouds rolled away
But all are safe, the reaper had not won

Thank heaven, no journey to the setting sun
I simply whispered a thanks today
I woke too soon, to a life almost undone

A precious chance, a new life has begun
There is a future, no more than delays
But all are safe, the reaper had not won

Startled I still have my daughter; beloved my only one
My fears all faded, at the break of day
I woke too soon, to a life almost undone
But all are safe, the reaper had not won

Stirring poetry… I don’t know what to what it pertains but feel a sense of relief. Very artfully done! xomo

Oh my goodness. I hope she is ok. As a TBI survivor I’d be remiss not to share the concussion 1st aid just just in case it may be helpful, whether head impacted or just jostled, whiplash, you can find it on Amen Clinics site. It’s just anti inflammatories to help prevent inflammation cycle from starting, concussion syndrome sucks balls. x

It's probably a bit selfish that I expect people to read between the lines, of what I write.. Each stanza, it's a narrative of how I felt from the time I left my home to pick her up until I had her home and told her just take a nap.. Though I naivelly, knew the post-traumatic stress, of the accident would not be fixed by sleep..

My 16 yo daughter was in a car accident on 9-2-2025 @ 5:38am, I was able to bring her home safe and sound. Arguably the best moment of my life! Most of my poetry, it's about writing about the pain of my friends. In this particular instance, it was my own pain...A.S.
