Notes About The Poem

A Lie

The promise of pleasure pierced through Crimson veins and cerulean arteries Breathing light into my thoughts, my mind Naked as the hope that soothed my soul Winding its way through broken promises That filled me up with the kindness of lies who Ventured to defeat my deafening roar Of heartbreak felt when I knew in my core That he had left me here alone, lonely Without hesitation – with humiliation Dreaded shame to saturate my pores And remind me that I once knew his love Breaking apart my honesty, my thirst For a drink of compassion that would soothe Tempting me to listen to his dishonesty With the voice of courage bound in hope Who knows that the prospects for truth Are almost nonexistent yet pleading with The mind to listen, to listen, to listen… Will he be able to make me believe a lie? Will he come back to me on the air of compromise? Will he love me enough to stop the goodbye? A tear sparkles in my eye

The depth of betrayal mixed with the depths of love. You've painted the portrait in words of a deeply wounded and beautiful heart. Your poems are like an awesome gallery of fine art where one cannot help but to take pause and look deeply in wonder at each piece....I only pray yours is not the beautiful heart portrayed in this poem Regina. God bless you.

You ably describe the turmoil which dwells in the mind and heart of a person betrayed, Regina. Is forgiveness possible!? ~ Regards // paul

This speaks of one who has felt the betrayal of a trusted love. One who is hurt to the core and feeling like a fool still hopes for his return. Beautiful written with great emotion. Good job. God Bless, JB
