A Letter To the Friend Written On the Passing Cloud
A Letter To the Friend Written On the Passing Cloud
as usual,
another day has passed
for the sun is near the horizon
the moon will probably soon rise from the lake east,
and as the moonbeam reflects on the surface of the water
the stars, as many as my countless sighs, would appear in the nocturnal sky
then, for the sake of troubles i always carry with me,
for the sake of troubles deeply seated in my weary heart,
the crickets may chirp all night through for me,
O my dear friend under the cloud beyond
although there is no water too rough to cross lying between us,
nor the mountain too rugged to climb blocking us,
you are alone and i am by myself
standing in the marsh without a word;
O my dear friend under the cloud beyond,
you are a lonely reed and i also am the lonely reed
for my keen desire is to see you,
i suppose you are also anxious to see me as well
O my dear friend under the cloud beyond,
we should come together, become a story of good old days,
and walk hand in hand to the end of the path behind that cloud
O my dear friend under the could beyond,
though you do not come and embrace me with joy,
and therefore, i have to subsist in gnawing loneliness;
though you do not visit and hug me with affection,
and therefore, i have to put up with unbearable solitude;
i won’t reproach you for loneliness i experience,
i won’t blame you for solitude i undergo
O my dear friend under the cloud beyond,
for it’s so difficult to survive,
for it’s so painful to give up the self,
i am writing this letter with the lonely heart
that is yearning after you on the strolling could high above
