A letter to my inner child

I guess, if I must
face you again and gain
something – but
your gain is my gain. And
again I find you
here. Within me you rest
and I hold it all.
And you hold the wonder.
And you keep it
safe inside small hands.
The lights of a
thousand wishes glow in
the spheres of
your eyes, unbothered by
the blackness
that the world may force
upon you, but
shimmering forth because
containing it
would be more impossible
than caging
the sea. I love the stories
you tell, not
to be noticed, but to simply
hear them
as they enter reality. To
entertain
an audience of one and
only one.
Carving out a space to
live in
and making it home.
I love
you.
