A Letter From Someone To You

Sometimes I get stuck in my own thoughts
And my thoughts go around and around
and you’re always there to bring me up or down
You help me put my feet back on the ground
You say to me that when I’m forming my own bubble
that I need my pride at times but to stay humble
You say to look at the ground and remember this one thing
That on the other side there are so many things
That I am both below and above someone else
You remind that I am not the worst or the best
because we all have our valleys and mountains
We all got to learn to climb and we got to learn to fall
and everyone around the world is learning how to stand tall
But sometimes we cry so much we form an ocean
so we learn to sail above the tears but we still got our fears
so when I get scared you are my anchor and my compass
And you remind me many things will come to pass
and everyone is like the stars in their own way
that’s why we are always reaching for them but they are so far away
They change from day to day you say to me
but I’ve always thought they looked the same and I’m afraid of heights
So I’ve never tried to go up to see them,
but I know one helped a lonely sailor once
And now they sail the oceans, each so far from home
so they made their own sailing above their sadness yet surrounded by it
