A Lesson In Charades

How could I have been so blind
The obvious showed in the obvious places
yet I chose to sit back
enjoy the show and ignore the signs
stay blind like a good little pet on a leash
All the answers to the endless questions
that never sub-sided
Every rumor I tried to uncover proved true
Almost a year to the date
It's been one long game of charades
and now I see I'm a loser for a reason
Russell the loser, nice to meet you
or pleasure to tease you
I guess I'll just try to pass the time
at least make a rhyme
instead of feeling like
chalk lines on the concrete, easy to erase
Memories I kept so close, feel like lies
and I, so easy to replace
guess the cycle has to repeat
Why can't I break the cycle
it's like the future of me
will end and cease
once fate seizes the enemy called me
or is just a stroke of luck
from my guardian angel
trying to do me a favor...
