Notes About The Poem

Author's Notes: This poem, "A Leprechaun's Christmas Magic," was written in free verse. This is another co-authored poem by my wife, Ingrid, and me. (This particular write does have some similarities to another poem -- a rhymed couple -- we just finished together, entitled: "A Leprechaun's Christmas Dream.") Now, this newest poem, "A Leprechaun's Christmas Magic," plays on the common metaphor of a Leprechaun's "pot of gold" which is supposed to appear at the end of "God's Divine Rainbow." We go beyond this common theme and apply its conceptual circumstance to another "pot of gold" that each of us can readily find in the very spirit and hearts of the people who surround us at Christmas -- most usually, our loved ones and very good friends. Finally, with all of this magic in the air which is palpable around Christmas, we metaphorically end this write with the poetic notion that the "subject" Leprechaun of this poem is indeed guiding YOU THE READER, in effect, to "The Golden Heart of Christmas!" Merry Christmas to All!! (Gary Bateman and Ingrid Krukenberg-Bateman - December 3, 2015) (Rhymed Couplet)

A Leprechaun's Christmas Magic

A Leprechaun’s Christmas Magic

And so, perhaps it’s no illusion at all—
When you can feel some magic in a special time;
A special time like Christmas!

There is maybe a magical Leprechaun around,
To show people his mythic “Pot of Gold” which
Lies at the end of God’s Divine Rainbow!

Yet there’s always another “Pot of Gold” to find too;
One that lies in the very spirit and hearts of the people
Around you especially now at Christmas time!

And so, try your best always to look carefully when
You may sense and feel that this magic is in the air;
And that Leprechaun is guiding you now in kind to
“The Golden Heart of Christmas!”
