Inspired by the prompt for the Shakespearean Sonnet contest. 30th July 2026
I've noticed many leaves are falling They have lost grip of their tree There is change, I hear the winter calling The season's catching up with me. Clinging tight to the end of my branches reach Don't let go! Don't let me descend... I realise there's a time for us all to reach But I'm not ready to let go, my friend. Rough winds are determined to blow me away As you ready yourself for dormancy. I too feel tired and I wish I could stay But it seems it is goodbye for you and me. A leaf in the woods who has fought a hard fight Recognising it's their time to take flight.
