A Lazy day on a Porch

Dog is lying in the shade, his butt under the car’s tire I bask in the sun, loving the Vitamin D Wind picks up in a savage way Shiny coral leaves dance in a macabre way Dead, they forgot to fall off their branches last fall Next month the new growth will begin Will the neonates force the oldsters to the ground? My thoughts move to my husband’s car It is over a century old Her chrome looks brand new If she was turned Would her headlights see the leaves that forgot to fall? Would she honk in recognition? Just a lazy day on a porch A head full of wonder
