A Lantern So Bright
Deep in the forest lay a carpet of snow
and a lantern so bright it was lit all aglow
Twas the hush and the still that caused her to stir
as a sky full of night, send the stars to concur
She walked through the pines and the trees single line
as a little light shone by the window so fine
Aligned on the snow were berries so bright
as she followed the trail to the cottage of light
When the door opened wide, she was ushered inside
where the scent of fresh cookies could not be denied
by the warm fireplace a man of great cheer
said come in my darling, for Christmas draws near
Then the Angels of God sang a chorus of love
with hymns of good will and harps from above
deep in the forest a carpet of snow
and a lantern so bright it burned bright as the snow.
